Award winning employer
eReco is proud to be an equal opportunities employer and as such the Company has just won Surrey County Council's 'Making a Difference Award 2010-2011' - through its EmployAbility scheme.
Recently the company was recruiting for a member of the warehouse team and many CVs were received. One particular CV made mention of the fact that an EmployAbility representative would be accompanying to any interview offered. MD Jane Taylor had not heard of this before and put in a call to the JobCentre. It was explained that the applicant suffered from a condition on the autistic scale and would prefer to be accompanied at interview by the EmployAbility representative. Several applicants were offered interviews, including this young chap. Immediately we could see that he had a lot to offer - he was well qualified, intelligent, motivated and in fact, perfect for the job, so we took him on.
EmployAbility is a supported employment service which enables and supports people with learning disabilities to enter into meaningful part time or full time, paid employment. Their motto is 'real jobs for real pay' - very fitting because all too often people with learning difficulties are overlooked by society and possibly even taken advantage of.
The managers at eReco were amazing - they researched the condition and discussed the best way of managing the situation. Advice was given by EmployAbility and the company has maintained a good level of contact with them to give updates on progress of the super young person who now works here.
Subsequently, eReco has recruited another young person with registered learning difficulties and they are also working out very well.
We are very proud to have won this award and even more proud of the amazing progress these people have made.
eReco recycling scheme operational again
eReco's print consumable recycling scheme is fully operational again. The company's fully managed bag-based collection scheme which it runs for major print manufacturers and their customers, has now recommenced following an incindent at the company's recycling plant.
The waste print consumables recycled on a daily basis means they don't end up in landfill. This is good news for the environment because the material is reintroduced into the manufacturing stream which means there will be less plundering of natural resources. Albeit a tiny amount compared to the global need, this represents just the sort of development in recycling that can really make a difference to the environment.
If you would like to know more about the fully managed service and how we can help you recycle your toner bottles and related products, please call us on 01342 833033 and speak to real people - Hollie or Stephanie - who will answer all your questions.
Toner recycling scheme really takes off
eReco's toner bottle and print consumable recycling scheme has now been running successfully for well over a year. Originally developed in line with the requirements of its first client, Canon, to provide a complete service solution to it and its customers, eReco is now the preferred recycling partner to Canon, Konica Minolta, IKON, Ricoh, Oce and Sharp. The Company is also in discussion with other manufacturers who are keen to roll out the service too. More updates soon.
WEEE service update
When the WEEE Directive came into effect, it was necessary for evidence to be issued on recycled consumer waste only. This left a huge hole in the reporting of WEEE recycling as business waste was not included at that time - and that's a lot of tonnage. In a latest development to the legislation, the Environment Agency has requested that all B2B WEEE is also now accounted for. eReco specialises in the B2B sector and, having forseen the need for full reporting right from the beginning, it is well equipped to provide the EA with the information. That's what being an AATF is all about.
Why is this important to you? It's the comfort of knowing that any WEEE recycling we do for you is fully compliant and, believe it or not, that's quite a rare achievement.
Staff purchase schemes
A relatively new phenomenon to eReco, the Staff Purchase Scheme has proved to be incredibly popular and several more of our clients have requested this service to be introduced to their staff too. Initially, Canon, who are a progressive organisation environmentally, asked us to do this for them and the scheme was received very well by their employees. It's a further indication of the Company's commitment to the environment and if your organisation would like to follow this lead, please contact us on 01342 833033. We'd be pleased to provide this service for you too.
